ABOUT
Lady Parts TV was founded in 2014 as a place to promote diverse and high-quality representations of women in television and film, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

Women have less speaking roles than men, are highly likely to be objectified and sexualized on screen, and have to be considerably younger than men to score parts. They also get paid less for the same work.
​
Complex and substantial roles for lesbian, bisexual and transgender women are even harder to come by, and the "lesbian death trope" must be protested.
​
Research has shown that more women behind the scenes equals more and better roles for women in front of the camera. However, men still hold the majority of decision-making positions in the television and film industries.
This means that it is up to us, the viewers, to voice our opinions on the female roles they think represent us, who we are and what we want.

And that is what we are here to do. And we have fun doing it!

Mimi Torchin
Mimi's bio is way too long to list in full here, but here are some highlights:
Mimi was the founding editor-in-chief of the groundbreaking magazine SOAP OPERA WEEKLY and helmed the publication for 11 years and was a columnist for SoapNet.com for five years. A former actress, Mimi interviewed celebrities and guested regularly on SoapNet’s original magazine show, Soap Center, co-hosted E! Entertainment Network’s live Daytime Emmy pre show for ten years, and was a guest on dozens of television news and talk shows.
Before starting SOAP OPERA WEEKLY in 1989, Mimi was a successful entertainment writer in New York, beginning her career with CUE magazine, as theatre editor and weekly columnist.

Liron Cohen
Liron Cohen is the founding creator of Lady Parts TV. She specializes in media representations of women's and gender issues, LGBTQ issues, people with disabilities, and mental health.
Liron is the senior program coordinator at ANAD​, the oldest nonprofit organization in the USA providing peer support to the eating disorders community. Liron is also the co-creator and co-host of Changing the Conversation about Eating Disorders, a monthly podcast bringing together the personal and professional in offering a new perspective on eating disorders.
